Jessica’s Story
When Jessica and her partner found out they were pregnant, it was a huge shock. Jessica was on a work visa and her partner who is Irish had no work and was sleeping rough in family and friends houses. They both did not see aborting their child as an option and went online to search for help. Everywhere they turned to was pointing to abortion. They persevered through the pregnancy hanging on to hope and found Gianna Care when they gave birth to their beautiful baby boy.

At this stage, they were homeless and pleading for a place to stay as a family. To make it worse, Jessica’s visa expired and she was told that because of this she was not eligible for any place to stay. Her partner was told he could stay with the baby in a Homeless Accommodation but she couldn’t.
They explained that Jessica’s was nursing the baby and could not be separated but they were still refused. Her partner fought extremely to keep mother and baby together and would not take the homeless accommodation for himself and the baby.
Gianna Care provided each week food and nappies, also emotional support encouraging them to not give up and continue to fight for the right of mother and baby to stay united.
